Spider-Man 2099 Attacks Miles Morales In First Spider-Verse 2 Trailer - Screen Rant

Sony has released the first trailer for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2. Tom Holland's Spider-Man has been incredibly popular since his introduction to the MCU, but Sony has also found massive success with the animated side of the character. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was released in 2018, focusing on Miles Morales' origin story as he teams up with Peter B. Parker, Spider-Man Noir, Peni Parker, Spider-Gwen, and Spider-Ham. The movie proved to be incredibly popular with fans and critics, earning the film an Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film.

News of a sequel came as no surprise given the film's success, and Sony officially confirmed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 was happening in November 2019. The movie's official synopsis hasn't been revealed yet. However, Shameik Moore is returning to voice Miles Morales, and Hailee Steinfeld is set to return as Spider-Gwen. The sequel is believed to delve deeper into Miles and Gwen's romance, and given the post-credits scene for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man 2099 is expected to have a large role as well. Issa Rae was also cast as Spider-Woman Jessica Drew back in June.

Now, the first footage from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 has arrived. After debuting at CCXP Worlds convention, the official trailer for the movie was released by Sony. The trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part 1) features Spider-Gwen visiting Miles Morales before Miles is sucked into an alternate universe and battles Miguel O'Hara. Check it out below:

After previously being delayed by five months, this is a big first step for the marketing push for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part 1). Not only does the trailer give an official title for the sequel, but it also confirms that Miguel O'Hara's Spider-Man 2099 will have a big role in the movie. It's unknown if other Spider-Verse characters will return in the film besides Spider-Gwen; however, Jake Johnson has expressed interest in reprising his role as Peter B. Parker. With the new addition of Spider-Man 2099, it's possible the sequel will introduce more Spider-Man characters when the next trailer drops.

The announcement that Into the Spider-Verse 2 will be cut into two parts is also a big reveal. Since this is only Part 1, Into the Spider-Verse 3 is already being worked on which goes to show how confident Sony is in their sequel. An all-female Spider-Verse movie is also in the works, which may or may not come out before Across the Spider-Verse's story is concluded in Part 2. There are still a lot of unanswered questions when it comes to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2, but at least this trailer has given fans something to hold onto until more news comes out.
