Billie Eilish credits a fan edit as inspiration to dye her hair blonde: 'It took about 6 weeks' - Yardbarker

Anybody can appear in The Ellen DeGeneres Show audience these days because of its virtual nature, but that doesn't mean anybody expected Billie Eilish's face to pop up during Tuesday's episode.

It was absolutely a planned bit surely organized beforehand, to be fair, but other audience members were surprised all the same. Eilish was transferred to the big screen for a proper guest appearance, and it was then that DeGeneres asked the question Eilish is presumably getting from every angle these days: Why blonde, and when?

"I've been wanting it blonde for a while," the 19-year-old seven-time Grammy winner said. "I don't know what came over me. I saw a fan edit when I had green hair, and it was, like, me just with whatever hair color I had, and they just edited blonde hair on me. I was like, 'Ah! It's so sick. I want it." And so, I kind of thought of it as a dream. I didn't think it was gonna happen because my hair has been through so much."

Eilish went on to detail the prolonged process: "It took about six weeks, so it was a lot. We started—I think January 16 was the first day, and then it was two weeks of nothing. Healing, letting my hair kind of take it in and digest and recover, and then again, and then two more weeks and then again and then a week—oh my God. It took a long time."

Fans' suspicions were officially confirmed March 17 with this record-breaking Instagram post:
