The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Trailer Gives Sharon Carter the Respect She Deserves - CBR - Comic Book Resources

Sharon Carter made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Just like in the comics, the character, also known as Agent 13, was introduced as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and a potential love interest for Steve Rogers. The film went to great lengths to establish a relationship of trust between Sharon and Steve, something that was expanded upon in Captain America: Civil War. However, given everything that was going in the MCU's Phase 3, including the cosmic threat of Thanos, Sharon ended up getting the short end of the stick.

But now, Agent 13 is set on coming back to the MCU in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier -- and by the look of the Disney+ series' latest trailer, the character is finally getting the respect she deserves.

During Super Bowl LV, Marvel Studios released a new, full-length trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, set to premiere on the streaming platform March 19. This latest look at the series focused largely on the two title characters, as they tangle with new threats while trying to carry on the legacy of Captain America. But for a few seconds, the trailer also showed fans that Sharon Carter will return to help the two title characters and live up to her reputation.

In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Sharon got to show her resolve as one of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who stood up to Brock Rumlow and Hydra when the villainous organization attempted to take over the spy agency. After the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D., Sharon joined the CIA and helped Steve find Bucky during the events of Captain America: Civil War. The character's role was important in the threequel, even briefly fighting the Winter Soldier at one point, but she never really got to prove how skilled she was.

Fortunately, that's set to change in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The trailer only shows Sharon for a few seconds, but she gets to cut loose in a way she never has in both of her previous cinematic appearances. Sharon takes on three thugs at the same time, disposing of them with efficient, powerful and hard-hitting fighting skills.

In just a couple of seconds, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has given Sharon the respect she deserves. She's clearly going to have more action than the character has seen in The Winter Soldier and Civil War combined, which will it allows her to show why she is just as deadly as any other S.H.I.E.L.D. agent in the Marvel Universe.

Directed by Kari Skogland, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Wyatt Russell, Noah Mills, Carl Lumbly and Daniel Brühl. The series premieres March 19 on Disney+.
