Snyder's Justice League Has a 10-Minute Intermission for Theatrical Release - CBR - Comic Book Resources

Director Zack Snyder planned ahead for his four-hour cut of Justice League to release in theaters, building in a 10-minute musical intermission for the film.

Snyder not only confirmed the musical intermission but also debuted a sneak peek at its orchestration during a Justice-League-themed interview with I Minutemen.

When asked directly about the upcoming movie's total length, Snyder replied, "It's four hours [worth] of the picture, and with the credits, I think it does go over four hours by a few minutes because of titles, because a lot of people worked on the movie."

"And if the movie is able to be viewed in the cinema, we have a 10-minute intermission which is built into the movie and has a beautiful suite of music," he added. Then, the director held his phone up and played a piece from the intermission to share with the interviewers and fans alike, which is also comprised by the film's composer Junkie XL (Tom Holkenborg).

Notably, the musical score planned for 2017's Justice League was supposed to be created by Junkie XL. When Joss Whedon took over the project, however, composer Danny Elfman -- who worked on  Avengers: Age of Ultron previously with Whedon -- replaced him. Snyder confirmed in July 2020 that Junkie XL will create the musical score for his cut of the film with accompanying music by Hans Zimmer. Junkie XL previously worked with Snyder, co-composing the score for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice alongside Zimmer.

The official synopsis for Zack Snyder's Justice League reads,

In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne aligns forces with Diana Prince with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.

Zack Snyder's Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ray Porter as Darkseid, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. The film arrives on HBO Max March 18.
