The members of BTS are nominated for a Grammy Award for their song “Dynamite.” While the awards show is not until March 14, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook of BTS are already looking ahead. In an interview with ET Canada, RM revealed the band members are currently working on “new music.”
Why BTS decided to release ‘Dynamite’
As a lead-up to the 2021 Grammy Awards, BTS sat down with ET Canada. During the interview, RM shared that BTS did not originally plan to release “Dynamite” or their 2020 album BE.
However, because their Map of the Soul Tour was indefinitely postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the K-pop group had time to work on music.
“So a fun thing is that ‘Dynamite,’ that single, was not actually on our plan, because last year we were supposed to do the whole tour, stadium tour, like all over the world,” RM said.
He continued, “So there was no plan to release a single like ‘Dynamite’ or album like BE. But that ‘Dynamite’ gave us a huge success in Korea of course, like Grammy nomination, performance, so life is really interesting.”

ARMY can expect a lot of BTS comebacks this year
In the interview with ET Canada, RM also shared that the members are working on new music as a group and for upcoming solo projects.
“Yes, we are working on our new music, and everybody is too for their solo or singles and like personally,” he said. “ARMYs can expect many things from us for this year too.”
Both V and Junkook are expected to release solo mixtapes soon, and there have been plenty of other hints that the members of BTS are working on solo material of their own.
At the end of 2020, Jimin released a song called “Christmas Love” and V released a song called “Snow Flower” featuring his friend Peakboy. On March 1, J-Hope shared an extended version of his song “Blue Side,” which was originally released on his 2018 mixtape Hope World.
BTS’ most recent album is titled BE. The album has two versions, BE (Deluxe Edition) and BE (Essential Edition). BE (Deluxe Edition) was released on Nov. 20, 2020, and BE (Essential Edition) was released on Feb. 19, 2021.
Based on what RM told ET Canada, ARMY can expect the septet to release an album in 2021 along with the members’ planned solo projects.
The band is nominated for their first Grammy Award
At the 2021 Grammy Awards, the K-pop group is nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their song “Dynamite.” The members are also slated to perform during the awards show.

The 2021 Grammy Awards mark the third time BTS will be included in the ceremony and the band’s second performance. It is also BTS’ first time being nominated for a Grammy Award. In 2019, HuskyFox was nominated for Best Recording Package for BTS’ album Love Yourself: Tear.
The septet previously made history by becoming the first Korean act to present at the Grammy Awards after presenting Best R&B at the 2019 awards show. In 2020, BTS became the first Korean act to perform at the Grammy Awards by taking part in the “Old Town Road All-Stars” performance with Billy Ray Cyrus, Lil Nas X, Diplo, and Mason Ramsey.
The 2021 Grammy Awards will air at 8 p.m. ET on March 14.
