Doctor Strange Reads the Darkhold in Multiverse of Madness Art - Screen Rant

Warning: SPOILERS for WandaVision's finale

Doctor Strange studies the Darkhold in new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness fan-art. WandaVision officially debuted the Scarlet Witch with its ending acting as a springboard for Wanda's future in the MCU. The Marvel Studios series also further built on the franchise's magical corner with the introduction of the Darkhold book, which was originally in Agatha Harkness' possession before she was defeated in the finale.

WandaVision hasn't really revealed much about the Darkhold, but in the comics, it holds all the dark spells collated by Chthon. According to Agatha, there's an entire section dedicated to the Scarlet Witch in the book. In an effort to learn more about herself, the WandaVision's post-credits scene revealed her studying the Darkhold, potentially unsuspecting that she's mostly learning dark magic. This might lead to Doctor Strange stepping in and attempting to stop her from doing so as this will make Scarlet Witch more powerful in a bad way.

Assuming that this comes to fruition, Doctor Strange will need to be prepared for his imminent encounter with Wanda in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Magic. Given what happened in WandaVision, digital creator BossLogic imagines that the future Sorcerer Supreme somehow gets his hands on the Darkhold and studies it himself. Check out the illustration below:

The implications of Doctor Strange reading the Darkhold isn't as dangerous as Wanda learning its secrets. Unlike her, he's had more traditional training in Kamar-Taj; he was the Ancient One's prodigy and was confirmed to be the best Sorcerer Supreme. Him checking out what's in it would be more helpful in case Wanda becomes too powerful and she openly uses dark magic to wreak havoc in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It's also worth noting that Doctor Strange has previously read pages from the Darkhold through the Book of Cagliostro, which featured some pages from The Book of the Damned.

It's currently unknown what dynamic Doctor Strange and Wanda will have once their paths finally cross in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But WandaVision's ending features hints that it won't be a peaceful alliance, at least not at first. Agnes said that Scarlet Witch is more powerful than the Sorcerer Supreme, which will ultimately be Doctor Strange in the MCU. Additionally, she also said that her destiny is to destroy the world, and since the Masters of the Mystic Arts are tasked to protect Earth from mystical threats, Wanda possibly going down this path means she'll face resistance from them.
