Kevin Feige Says Han Solo Won't Be In His Star Wars Movie - Screen Rant

Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige says Han Solo won't be in his Star Wars movie. As the President of Marvel Studios, Feige has ushered the MCU through over a decade of immense cinematic success, starting with Iron Man in 2008. Though the MCU is responsible for his rise to one of the most successful film producers of all time, Feige has always been a vocal Star Wars fan. With Marvel Studios and Star Wars under the same Disney umbrella, it had been rumored for years that Feige would be the head architect of a film set in a galaxy far, far away.

In 2019, Disney finally announced that Feige would be co-producing a Star Wars movie with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. Feige eventually tapped the MCU's own Michael Waldron to pen the screenplay. Waldron served as the head writer for season 1 of Loki and also wrote the script for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Since their Star Wars movie is still so early in development, virtually nothing is known about its plot, characters, or possible release date. However, Feige recently revealed that one iconic Star Wars character wouldn't make an appearance in his film.

During an interview with Collider's Steve Weintraub on all things MCU and Star Wars, Feige was asked about the status of Waldron's script, which he said is still "in the works, in progress." He was then asked if it will be "a solo movie" or "a movie and a Disney Plus thing," to which Feige replied, "It's not about Han Solo. Han Solo is not in it, though." Read the full context of the exchange below:

What is the status of your Star Wars script with Michael Waldron?

FEIGE: In the works, in progress.

Can you at least say, is it a solo movie or is it one of these things that could be a movie and a Disney Plus thing?

FEIGE: It's not about Han Solo. Han Solo is not in it, though.

The interviewer seemed to be asking Feige whether the project was being developed as an exclusive theatrical release or a dual release on Disney+ Premier Access, like Black Widow and Jungle Cruise recently were. Feige likely understood the question and decided to joke around with the double meaning in this case. Despite his kidding around, there's no reason this shouldn't be taken as confirmation that Han Solo won't be appearing in Feige and Waldron's Star Wars film.

Portrayed by Harrison Ford in the original and sequel trilogies, Han Solo got a spinoff/origin story in 2018 with Solo: A Star Wars Story, played by Alden Ehrenreich. While the character's next appearance is unknown, the upcoming Lando series on Disney+ would be a safe bet. As for Feige and Waldron's film, the possibilities for what it could be about are endless, given it could take place anywhere on the Star Wars timeline. Given they are both involved in Doctor Strange 2, there should be more Star Wars-related teases from the two in the lead-up to that film's release.
