MrBeast Makes a Fortune From Squid Game Video - LADbible

Mr Beast's long-awaited real life Squid Game finally landed yesterday (24 November) and he's already made a fortune from it.

The YouTuber recreated each of the six challenges from the hit Netflix series, intricately building sets of Red Light, Green Light, the marbles arena, the tug of war and the glass hop game.

He also managed to get 456 players to take part, going head to head in the hope of claiming the $456,000 (£341,000) jackpot.

But it's not just the contestants who made a killing from it.

In less than 24 hours, the video has been viewed 30,097,332, and it looks like Mr Beast, real name Jimmy Donaldson, has already made an absolute packet.

According to reports, YouTubers generally make between $2 (£1.50) and $5 (£3.75) for every 1,000 views on a video.

And if you calculate that for the top end of his potential earnings, Donaldson looks to have made a grand total - so far - of £112,864 ($150,486).

Which isn't too bad really, is it?

Speaking to Logan Paul earlier this year, he explained that he doesn't actually take a lot of money from his channel.

He told him: "Well if I make $3-4 million a month, I just spend it on videos and X-box.

"We literally have razor thin margins, and then just reinvest it all."

A taken-aback Paul then said: "That's wild! Is that ever dangerous? Does a video not ever yield the return you were expecting?"

Donaldson responded "Yeah a ton of them."

Paul, still shocked, pressed him again, saying: "You spend $4 million on a YouTube video!? What the f***?!"

Donaldson then clarified: "Well, four million dollars a month on videos, yeah."

After whittling the group down to the last six, instead of playing the Squid Game, the finalists of Donaldson's stunt all played a game of musical chairs, with 079 claiming the top prize.

And the runner-up didn't go home empty-handed either, walking away with a cool $10,000 (£7,400).

Some people didn't enjoy the video as much as others, however, with critics saying it was in poor taste, given the fact the actual series was incredibly violent.

One person said: "The whole thing was about the people killing each other to get out of debt as entertainment for the wealthy.

"Glad that went over your head and you, as a wealthy person, are recreating it as entertainment."

However, others have had a slightly more upbeat take on Donaldson's work.

One wrote: "Jimmy this is incredible. At this point you should take the next logical step and establish a movie/ tv production company - you've pretty much already created one from scratch.

"I would love to see how you could shake up that industry."
