Venom 2 Deleted Scene Shows Extended Version of Ending Beach Scene - Screen Rant

A new deleted scene from Venom: Let There Be Carnage shows extensions to the ending beach scene. Though the film has been hit-or-miss with fans, the post-credit scenes have garnered a lot of excitement for the future. While these new deleted scenes may not have the same multiverse-shattering ramifications, they do help set the stage for Venom’s future.

Tom Hardy first portrayed Eddie Brock/Venom in 2018, starting a new universe for Sony-owned Marvel characters aside from Spider-Man, who was currently being used by Marvel in the MCU. While the film was not the critical success Sony had hoped for, it was successful enough at the box office to warrant a sequel, as well as encourage the studio to launch other films based on ancillary Spider-Man characters. Venom’s sequel has the privilege of being the first of Sony’s new films to bridge the gap with the MCU and set the stage for Spider-Man to return to the Sony universe of films.

This week, VUDU uploaded a deleted scene onto YouTube from Venom: Let There Be Carnage showing an extended version of the beach scene ending. In the beginning, Eddie and Venom discuss where they should go next, hinting that Eddie might just become the kind of protector/anti-hero he is in the comics. This is followed up by a more comical conversation wherein Venom insists that Eddie loves him, and Eddie continually denies it. While some of the comments point out the CGI is not at the same level as the rest of the film, the scene is still entertaining. It highlights the new relationship between the pair while giving the feeling of a brighter future/ happy ending after the unrelenting darkness of Carnage. It is understandable why it was cut though, as clearly the filmmakers did not want to linger too long on the vacation bliss when they were about to knock the duo into the MCU in the post-credits scene.

An interesting question is why they chose to cut the bit about going somewhere that needs a lethal protector. While it seems like a good line to close Venom: Let There Be Carnage and help set up another sequel, the filmmakers instead chose to cut it out. Could they be trying to keep Venom’s motivations a little more vague and sinister in case he runs into a certain wallcrawler in the near future? Maybe that dialogue was written and shot before they confirmed the MCU crossover? Who knows, but it will certainly be fun to see how Eddie and Venom fit into the Spider-Man storyline when he shows up in the MCU.
