"Crime" scores the highest Hot Country Songs entrance for a woman since Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line's "Meant to Be" soared in at No. 1 in December 2017 for its first of its record 50 weeks at the summit.
For pop-rock sister trio Haim, "Crime" is its first entry on Billboard's country charts. Haim has posted three top 10s, including one No. 1, on Top Rock Albums.
Swift solo-authored the song, which was produced by Aaron Dessner. The track is from her new album Evermore (released Dec. 11 on Republic Records), which launches as her eighth No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 with 329,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Dec. 17, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
"Crime" achieves its No. 2 start on Hot Country Songs thanks to 17.4 million first-week U.S. streams. It launches atop Country Streaming Songs, awarding Swift her third leader and Haim its first. Swift bows at the apex for a second time, following "Betty" (Aug. 8). "Body" also sold 3,000 downloads in the tracking week.
MCA Records Nashville will be promoting "Crime" to country radio beginning Jan. 11. It has already received plays on country stations WBWL Boston; WYRK, Buffalo, N.Y; WIOV Lancaster, Penn.; KSOP Salt Lake City; and KXLY Spokane, Wash.
Swift's last Country Airplay entry, "Betty," peaked at No. 32 in October. She has notched seven career No. 1s among 18 top 10s.
