The Head of the Table, Roman Reigns, has just crossed a crucial milestone. Reigns just completed a hundred days as WWE Universal Champion. Roman is currently embroiled in a feud with Kevin Owens and looks to continue his reign of terror over SmackDown.
Roman Reigns won the title at Payback 2020
Reigns returned at SummerSlam 2020. He attacked the new WWE Universal Champion Bray Wyatt and the former champ Braun Strowman. That seemed to announce the Big Dog’s intentions to the WWE Universe, and he aligned himself with Paul Heyman the following episode of SmackDown.
Reigns won the WWE Universal Championship in a controversial fashion as well. Scheduled to face Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman at Payback, Reigns did not walk out to the ring until Wyatt and Strowman beat the snot out of each other. Once Wyatt and Strowman wrecked the ring with a massive superplex, out walked Roman with Paul Heyman.
Wyatt managed to lock in the Mandible Claw on Reigns, but a low blow knocked the champion out of the match. A thunderous Spear to Strowman and Reigns secured his second Universal Title win. Since then, Reigns began to acknowledge himself as the Tribal Chief.
Rivalry with Jey Uso
Roman’s rivalry with Jey Uso was SmackDown’s best storyline for months. The challenger pinned Matt Riddle in a Fatal Four way match to face Roman at Clash of Champions. Uso was elated with the opportunity to face his cousin, but Roman was hell bent on destroying his cousin.
At Clash of Champions, Reigns utterly destroyed Jey Uso. He mounted Uso and hammered him with blows, until the referee had to call for the bell and award the win to Roman.
Uso received a title shot at Hell in a Cell, but he received an even more brutal beating from Roman inside Hell in a Cell. Reigns managed to get Uso to quit, after he locked Jimmy in the guillotine choke.
Roman Reigns beat Drew McIntyre; Universal Champion beats WWE Champion
Roman Reigns made it to Survivor Series as champion, where he beat Drew McIntyre in a Champion vs Champion classic. The WWE Champion was ridiculed by Reigns, having only just regained the title. In spite of having less than a week to prepare for Roman, McIntyre put up a stiff fight before succumbing to the guillotine choke.
Reaching the hundred day mark is a big milestone for Reigns, and we won’t be surprised if he crosses two hundred. He is one of the best things going on in wrestling. Even though he’s a heel, long may he ‘reign’ as the WWE Universal Champion and the Tribal Chief of the WWE.
