Harry Styles and Phoebe Waller-Bridge are the British couple of your dreams as they ring in the new year together in Styles’s new video.
As per Pitchfork, Styles recruited the iconic creator of Fleabag to co-star in the music video for his single ‘Treat People With Kindness’, taken from his latest album Fine Line.
The intoxicating black-and-white video sees the singer – sporting a snazzy and dazzling jacket – lead a buoyant performance of the track. He’s soon jumping atop the audience table where Waller-Bridge is, inspiring her to join him onstage for a groovy encore dance.
It’s a truly delightful and upbeat piece that won’t fail to lighten your spirit. All that’s really missing is a classic knowing look to the camera by Waller-Bridge à la Fleabag.
It’s a great way for Styles to begin this new year after 2020 was an artistic success for the singer. His 2019 album Fine Line was critically adored, marked by Styles’s stylish personality and solid production. It was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Pop Solo Performance (‘Watermelon Sugar’), and Best Music Video (Adore You), at the Grammy Awards. It also received a nomination for Album of the Year at the Brit Awards.
Incredibly despite its infancy, Rolling Stone placed Fine Line at number 491 on its updated list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, marking it as the most recent record to be included.
It might be early but his chances of being nominated for Best Music Video when the nominations come around again have been done no harm with ‘Treat People With Kindness’ – that’s just what the star wattage of Waller-Bridge can achieve.
Waller-Bridge has had more of a quiet time of it in 2020 than her video partner but 2021 sees the release of her film No Time to Die, which James Bond himself, Daniel Craig, personally asked her to re-write the script for. We can only hope that Craig somehow persuaded Waller-Bridge to give the world what it really needs: another season of Fleabag.
