This week was a momentous one for High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star Joshua Bassett, and not for the reason he imagined.
On Thursday, Joshua released his latest single, "Lie Lie Lie," which has been heavily anticipated by HSMTMTS fans (and, as expected, it's a bop. Stream it—you won't regret it). Yet as the release day came to a close, the 20-year-old musician took to Instagram to share some concerning news: He had just undergone surgery for what he described as "the worst pain of my life."
"Welp... not the first place I assumed I’d be on my 'Lie Lie Lie' release day... the ER!!" Joshua wrote. "After multiple, very very ugly days and nights, I had no choice today but be taken to the hospital." While Joshua didn't specify what exactly happened, he did write that he planned to now "Rest at the hospital and the doctors will see what they see in the morn!"
Joshua also made sure to thank fans for their overwhelming support on the music release, ensuring them that he was seeing all of their love, even from the discomfort of the ER.
"I’d like to say thank you!!! for all the support on the song!!! i’ve been doing what i can today to stay involved...Much love to all!!"
Fellow HSMTMTS cast members extended love to Joshua via the comments, including Matt Cornett who wrote, "Love you brother," and Joe Serafini, who added, "❤️love you."
