ALEXANDRIA, VA- Arlington’s Gallery Underground was voted “Best Art Gallery” in a 2019 Northern Virginia Magazine reader survey. The gallery has opened a juried exhibition called Dreams and Nightmares that fittingly describes the fear and hope felt worldwide in the last year.

The all-media exhibition is on display from Feb. 1 – 26.

The Gallery Underground is the Arlington Artists Alliance’s juried gallery.

Artists who contributed work took on the task of interpreting the theme. Viewers will see works ranging from beautiful to dark and everything in between. DC sculptor Emily Francisco selected works from around the country.

There is no opening reception planned due to COVID safety protocols. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Gallery Underground is located at 2100 Crystal Drive in the Crystal City Shops. The location is accessible by Metro and metered parking is on nearby streets and in garages. Parking is free, however, after 4 p.m and on weekends.

Gallery Underground rotates its exhibitions each month. Though primarily a setting for visual art, the gallery has also hosted musical and dance performances.

Arlington Artists Alliance encourages and supports both established and emerging artists who work in all forms of visual art, without partiality toward style or trend.

Supporters of the gallery include National Landing Business Improvement District, JBG Smith, the Virginia Commission for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts,
