K-pop group GOT7 member Yugyeom is reportedly leaving JYP Entertainment at the end of January and joining AOMG after his contract expires.
Well, we kind of knew this day would come. The members of K-pop group GOT7 are nearing the end of their contracts with JYP Entertainment, and it is looking like the youngest of the lot, might depart from the company following the expiration of his contract.
According to South Korean news channel SPO TV News, Yugyeom will be joining hip-hop label AOMG, founded by Jay Park, who himself found fame at JYP Entertainment as a member of 2PM. Park left the company in 2009 and remains one of the driving forces of modern-day Korean hip-hop as head of AOMG and H1GHR Music.
In a statement to Newsen, JYP Entertainment took a neutral stance to the news: “We are still discussing various possibilities regarding GOT7’s contracts, and we will inform you when we are ready.”
Speculations about GOT7’s future have kept fans buzzed for quite some time now, especially since JYP confirmed that the group’s contracts expire in January.
In December, group member Jinyoung was also reported to have met with agencies for a potential contract.
GOT7 debuted in 2014 with their EP Got It?, rising to fame some time later with their 2015 single ‘Just Right’. The group has consistently been in the spotlight for their elaborate performances, also eventually coming into their own as an act with consistently strong releases.
