Stars including Pink, Kevin Hart, Demi Lovato and James Corden have condemned the extraordinary scenes in Washington DC as supporters of Donald Trump stormed the US Capitol to protest against the election result.
President-elect Joe Biden blasted the protesters' "insurrection" while Mr Trump called his followers "very special" before urging them to "go home".
His supporters had descended on the Capitol Building on Wednesday and disrupted the process to certify Mr Biden's election victory.
Politicians later returned to continue the certification process. Police said four people had died, one from gunshot wounds and three from medical emergencies, during the chaos.
Pop star Pink said she was "ashamed" of events in Washington DC.
She tweeted: "As a United States Citizen, and the daughter of two veterans, and the sister of another, I am ashamed of what is happening in Washington.

Marvel star Mark Ruffalo described the events as a "coup attempt" and said: "Imagine if this was our side. There would be rivers of our blood in the streets and not a single one of us would be armed. This has been allowed."

Comedian and actor Kevin Hart said the events that unfolded inside the Capitol Building showed the "2 completely different Americas that we are living in".
The Jumanji star said the protesters would have been treated differently by police had they been black.
"If these people were black, they would have all been shot dead," he said.
Singer Demi Lovato described it as a "horrible day for our country", adding: "I have no words right now while watching the news."
James Corden called Donald Trump a "lunatic" who had "hijacked" the US.
The British entertainer, filming his Late Late Show with James Corden from his garage due to the spiralling Covid-19 case numbers in Los Angeles, described the events as a "crazy, sad day, a day that will go down as a dark one in the long history of America".
The Londoner said he grew up an "outsider" who admired the US, and those like him watching around the world would have been shocked by the events in Washington DC.
"The America that so many aspire to will be back. It's just been hijacked by a lunatic and his crazy army for the last four years. But that's about to end." https://t.co/iyX0JiWBa4

The Gavin and Stacey star said the US had been "hijacked" by a "lunatic and his crazy army" for the last four years, but that would soon end.
He added: "Because in two weeks on those same steps, where that mob fought and pushed past police, Joe Biden will be sworn in as President of the United States."
Jimmy Kimmel opened his show with a monologue welcoming viewers to "the treason finale" of Mr Trump's presidency, before slamming the president for refusing to accept the result of the election.
Mocking the costumes some of the protesters wore, the TV host said "it was like a psychotic Price Is Right audience forcibly taking control of the Plinko wheel".
The presenter moved on to the rift between Mr Trump and US Vice President Mike Pence, who defied calls to reject the electoral votes that make Mr Biden president.

He compared it to another high-profile split reportedly happening, saying: "First Kim and Kanye, and now Trump and Pence. Very sad."
He described it as "a terrible day in the history of this country", and hit out at politicians who had supported Mr Trump.
"These people are not Americans," he added.
Jimmy Fallon opened his The Tonight Show by telling viewers it was a "difficult time" to do an entertainment programme.
He said: "This is what happens when there is no peaceful transition of power and what happens when there is bad leadership. This is not how you lose.
"Today was a disgrace. Today was disappointing. But sadly, today was not a surprise."

"Today was not patriotism, today was terrorism. I thought that President-elect Biden, President Biden, said it best when he said 'we have to step up, we're at our best when we step up'."
He added: "Today was a disgrace. Today was disappointing. But sadly, today was not a surprise."
Stephen Colbert filmed his show live. He told viewers to remember the behaviour of Donald Trump loyalists next time they are up for re-election.

Colbert said: "And in 2022, when all of those Republicans who are responsible for what happened today are running for re-election, let's remember them for who they showed themselves to be today: cynical cowards who believe the voters should not choose who governs this country."
