Hot 100, Billboard’s weekly ranking of the most popular tracks in the United States, is probably one of the most prestigious lists that a musician can get on and not many artists have topped the list more than once.
But leave it to the superstars BTS to make history (once again) as the first musical act to top the competitive list twice in the same year with a total of not one or two, but five number one hits in about 10 and a half months.

BTS achieved this feat when their latest track with Ed Sheeran, Permission to Dance, debuted at number one on the Hot 100 list.
BTS' five Hot 100 number one hits in just 10 and a half months currently stands as the fastest accumulation by a musician in over three decades.
The last musician who managed to score five Hot 100 number one hits in under 10 and a half months was Michael Jackson, who achieved the feat in about a month less than BTS between 1987 and 1988.
Currently, BTS' Permission to Dance stands as the most-consumed song in the world after it debuted at number one on this week’s Billboard Global 200 chart.
In fact, Permission to Dance replaces the band's last hit song, Butter, which was reigning at the top of the charts until this week. It's safe to say that the speed at which the South Korean boy band has collected their achievements has been nothing short of historic.
