New Singles From BTS, Post Malone, Justin Bieber And Billie Eilish Are Competing For Hot 100 Dominance - Forbes

Some weeks, Friday is fairly calm in regards to potential new smashes arriving from superstars...but this is not one of those weeks. This time around, several of the biggest names in the music industry have shared singles that could not only go on to become hits, but which may enjoy impressive debuts on Billboard’s Hot 100 songs chart after their first full seven days of availability have eclipsed.

At the moment, at least four newly-released tunes are sure to compete to debut inside the top 10 on Billboard’s all-encompassing ranking of the most-consumed songs in the U.S., and while there may appear to be a leader, what order they’ll end up in isn’t easy to predict.

BTS - “Permission to Dance”

The No. 1 trending music video on YouTube and the track that appears at the top of Spotify’s highly-trafficked and closely-watched New Music Friday playlist, BTS’s “Permission to Dance” could easily score a top 10 debut on the Hot 100 next week. Though it seems like a remote possibility, it’s also not out of the question to suggest it could start at No. 1.

BTS’s last two English-language singles both debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 (“Dynamite” and “Butter”), and in between those wins they scored another immediate ruler with “Life Goes On.” The only thing potentially hurting “Permission to Dance” is the same band’s current single “Butter,” which rules the chart for a sixth frame right now and which will likely hold on for at least a seventh, if not an eighth turn.

Post Malone - “Motley Crew”

It has now been close to two years since Post Malone dropped his last album Hollywood’s Bleeding, and fans are thirsting for new music from the pop/hip-hop chart-topper. The musician’s just-dropped single “Motley Crew” has all the makings of another leader (he’s now landed at No. 1 on the Hot 100 with four tracks), and seeing as this is the first taste of a new album (or at least it appears to be), don’t count this cut out.

Billie Eilish - “NDA”

As the street date for Eilish’s upcoming sophomore album Happier Than Ever quickly approaches (it’s due at the end of July), the teen singer-songwriter is speeding up the rate at which she doles out tunes. “NDA” is the fifth official single from the set, and it is probably about to become another major win for her...though just how well it will perform right out of the gate is difficult to say.

For a while, every single the Grammy winner dropped went right to the top 10, but that streak broke with her most recent share “Lost Cause,” which only climbed as high as No. 27. Can “NDA” beat that position? The fact that it was released on Friday (instead of beforehand) is certainly helping its chances, as is the sheer excitement the world feels regarding her to-be-released collection.

The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber - “Stay”

No matter who else is credited, whenever Justin Bieber hops on a song, everyone else should look out. The Canadian pop star joins rising hip-hop talent The Kid LAROI on the former’s new single “Stay,” which appears to serve as the first taste of his upcoming release F*ck Love 3. Both artists have reached the top 10 several times recently (Bieber has now done so with 23 tracks), and the two of them could be well on their way to landing one more win together.
