Just keep breathin' because The Voice's rookie coach Ariana Grande has shown her support to Britney Spears in her ongoing conservatorship battle. Britney had a court hearing this week on July 14 in a fight to remove her father Jamie Spears as her conservator. Last month, the public got to hear the pop star's testimony as she virtually spoke in front of a judge. Since then, fans and celebrities have continued to keep the #FreeBritney movement alive.
On July 14, the "Overprotected" singer spoke out against her father in further detail. E! News was present at the court hearing and reported what went down in the courtroom. Ever since the Framing Britney Spears documentary was released in February 2021, fans were very vocal in claiming the pop icon was under conservatorship abuse. Britney confirmed that speculation in this week's testimony saying, "I'm here to get rid of my dad and charge him with conservatorship abuse." She continued, "I want him investigated…This conservatorship has allowed my dad to ruin my life." Things are slowly starting to look up for the singer, as the judge granted her permission to hire Matthew Rosengart as her new private attorney.
There's a force in numbers, especially when it's fellow pop legends supporting each other. Following this week's court hearing, Britney posted a video of herself on Instagram doing summersaults and riding her horse with the song "Black Horse And A Cherry Tree" playing in the background. The caption wrote, "Coming along, folks ... coming along 🖕🏻!!!!! New with real representation today ... I feel GRATITUDE and BLESSED !!!! Thank you to my fans who are supporting me ... You have no idea what it means to me be supported by such awesome fans !!!! God bless you all !!!!!" The Voice coach, Ariana Grande, showed her support to Britney in the comments saying, "YOU ARE SO VERY LOVED AND SUPPORTED." The "God Is A Woman" singer also reposted Britney's Instagram video on her story with the title, "FREE BRITNEY."
In the past, Britney has never acknowledged or participated in the #FREEBRITNEY hashtag, so fans were shocked that she included it at the end of her Instagram caption. One fan commented under the singer's post, "Did she just say #freebritney😭😭🙌 I can't rn WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH BRITNEY." In reference to her song "Lucky," another fan said, "THIS IS A STORY ABOUT A GIRL NAMED FREE BRITNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Jersey Shore star, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi is no stranger to showing her support for the queen of pop. Snooki was also found in the comments saying, "OMGAHHHHHH ITS HAPPENING YES QUEEN WE LOVE YOU."
While there is still a ways to go for Britney to fully gain her freedom and justice, being granted the ability to hire the attorney of her choice is a small victory in this uphill battle she's facing. The vocal support and fight from fellow celebrities, like The Voice's Ariana Grande, surely helps Britney in this case by shedding light and bringing awareness to the horrific reality she has faced for the past 13 years. Clearly, Britney can't count on her family to help contribute to her well-being, however, she has a cushion of support from fans and fellow celebrities.
